The Bellevue Farmers Market Returns for 2017!

Local People. Local Food. That is what you will find every Friday night at The Bellevue Farmers Market according to market managers Jeremy Blount and Matt Lowney. “We put a lot of emphasis on local.  Most of the vendors at our market are folks we see in the community at restaurants or school functions,” says Blount.

The 2017 season will bring back many of your favorite vendors, along with several new vendors.  Seasonal vendors like The Peach Truck will return (May 26th) during peach season, and there will be weekly and “visiting” vendors throughout the season.  The market is adding more local produce growers, a full-time farm fresh egg vendor, two meat vendors, along with other market fare. A vendor list and schedule will be posted on the market website (www.thebellevuefarmersmarket.com) in the next few days.

The market encourages shoppers to get to know the vendors. “Ask the growers questions about where the food is grown and how it is grown. Establishing that relationship is truly what community markets are about,” says Blount.

Because the growers are local, the produce will be seasonal.  This not only brings the freshest food to your table, but also provides a wide variety of offerings throughout the market season.

Another change for The Bellevue Farmers Market this year is the change in hours of operation.  The market will now begin at 3:30 and end at 7:30 (Dusk in the fall). The change was made to accommodate those wanting to shop earlier, and to capture the after school traffic before people travel home.  A market rule is that no vendor can sell their goods prior to market opening.  This will help to ensure that vendors have stock for the duration of the 4-hour market.

The Bellevue Farmers Market will be held every Friday at Red Caboose Park from May 12th through September 29th.  It is a rain or shine market, but markets could be cancelled due to lightning and high winds.  The market encourages patrons to follow their social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) and email mailing list for market announcements.
